Many of the individuals who listen to this music feel they are superior in intellect to others. If you dog their music, they will just tell you that you don't get it and that your mind is too small to understand. Most indie scensters are snobbish and think that they are some type of musical elite. The reality is, college kids get sucked into this music because they feel they are finding a new identity that makes them different than the other "brainwashed, money humping, corporate idiots" because they really can't define themselves as a person.
Indie dude1: "Hey man. I saw Matt Pond PA the iother day. It was awesome."
Indie dude 2: "Yeah man. Matt's lyrics are so genius; they're almost counter-cultural."
A normal, sane person: "Indie music is boring and retarded. You all are just college snobs looking for an identity because you have none and no personality!"

They like bands such as Belle & Sebastian, The Strokes, Bloc Party, Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand, The Libertines, The Smiths, The Cure (all of a sudden) "sleazy" electro and basically everything the music magazine NME tells them to listen to. Occasionally you'll see one wearing a Led Zeppelin tshirt under their blazer which so obviously proves they are "rock and roll" and into old school "hard" rock. Favorite Led Zeppelin song of theirs would probably be Stairway To Heaven.
They try to involve themselves in creative subjects at college and university such as art, photography and media studies and like to watch Japanese horror films, 1950's French films, James Dean films etc.
Go to the Camden Barfly on a Friday night and you will think you have walked into a cloning experiment.

I enjoy making songs that are no longer than 50 seconds. I enjoy making movies about nothing. I enjoy wantching james dean on my television set. I like making artwork covers for bands that only exist inside my head.

Indie Kids usually are around 13 to 19, they like to dress differently and are very opinionated. They are quite calm and are usually hated and loved by members of the public.
Indie kids tend to pity Chavs and scenes, who think they rae so cool and different, when they are not.
Indie Kids Like to stay away from places that are heavily populated. You will see them more commonly in Parks or little Hole-in-the-wall cafes.
Indie Kids honestly do not care what people think. They rae the types to laugh when people are mean to them.
You cannot put your finger on Indie Kids style because unlike the typical Emo or scene, they do not conform to their own standards.
Indie Kids are not confrontational, and usually don't hang out in large packs. They are not loud and are sometimes interested in Things like The Mighty Boosh, The Flight of The Conchords, Oscar Wilde, Asian Candy, Messy Rooms, iPod classics, Banksy, N64, Catcher in the rye, Alice In Wonderland, Big Star, Astronomy, Photography and finding young bands before they make It big, but they don't boast about It, they just smile to themselves.
