A bow shock is, in short, when solar winds such as those emmited by the sun interact with the msgnetic field of a planet.
When this happens the kinetic energy of the solar winds is converted into thermal energy. When the radio waves of this occurance are converted into sound waves it sounds something like an earthquake (bear in mind sound waves cannot travel through a vacuum such as space because they need a medium, however radiowaves don't require a medium thus can be detected in space).
