a) park the car in the driveway
b) come out to walk the dog

Get the Dogwin's Lawmug. An over-involved parent of a spouse whose compulsive need to demonstrate their support of their child inadvertently undermines that child's marriage through over the top gifts, paying of regular expenses, or repeatedly weighing in on decisions in support of their child.
Linda and Jim never really found their own way forward. His helicopter-in-laws were always buying their daughter whatever she wanted and haranguing him for not providing for their daughter's desires.
