I myself was classed as a a GREBO in the late 70's onwards (even more so when another UK youth sub-culture The MOD'S movement began (again) who hated Rockers/Bikers).
My favorite bands of the time included Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin etc.
Long hair, leather jackets and raggy jeans (biker look) being the uniform of the day.
I understood that the term GREBO was a derogative name (abbreviation of- GREASE BOY, meaning dirty),given by so called straight boring idiots with no sense of musical taste and thought processes!
This term derived from the old Rock and Roll Teddy Boy bikers (GREASERS-meaning covered in bike oil and/or Brylcreamed hairstyle!).
In the late 80's early 90's- UK Midlands Bands took up the GREBO banner- bands such as- POP WILL EAT ITSELF, GAYE BYKERS ON ACID, CRAZYHEAD, THE BOMB PARTY,BOMB DISNEYLAND, BOMB EVERYTHING.

Some times like to seem "in" with the trends so they listen to the "latest" hip hop song 2 months after its video has been relased. Wears dark clothes, normally band shirts. Hates scene kids and chavs. Complains about being labelled and then starts ranting about chavs. Sits on a wall at wyvern theatre and listens to music on their phone. Usually like to get stoned every weekend so they get 20 different people to chip in 50p to a 10 bag and then go and smoke it in queens park. Goes to town every weekend. They think they're badman. They're idea of a night out is to go to furnace night club and listen to local bands who cannot sing so they bree.

Get the swindon greb mug.Grebs claim to be the individuals of society, and although they all dress fairly similarly, they are the minority, so I suppose they're right. Most grebs listen to rock or punk music. The greb crowd tends to have a layered structure, with the upper echelons consisting of those that have been grebs the longest: they have attained the enviable status of "old school". Those that have just arrived on the greb scene are known as "newbies", and tend to be viewed with some contempt by the old school crowd. Newbies have to go through a period of piss-taking before they are accepted as proper members of the greb community; this is a kind of hazing ritual and gives the new greb a chance to see what they will have to endure from chavs. After enough time has passed, these newbies become old school, with a wave of newbies stepping in to fill their place. Grebs tend to be more accepting than other groups of people, such as chavs, and generally nicer. They also don't use words such as "bare" or mug people, which is always a good thing.
Those guys in black with skateboards that hang around not doing a lot and being friendly but unproductive.

Describes a person who won't follow boring trends or be brainwashed by the constant stream of waste excreted from the filthy abyss of the pop music industry.
