Emotives are symbols, phrases, or images used to emotionally motivate people. They can be negative or positive, but it depends on what motivation or response is desired from the viewer or listener. They can cause emotional pain or happiness and can be used to manipulate others into action or make them experience despair.

After viewing negative emotives last night, Bill fell into a deep depression.
