when a sales person makes enough money to cover expenses.
Came from western days when peddlers came into a hotel and needed a room but didn't have any money. The hotelkeeper would take their hub or "nut" from the wagon as a deposit. If the peddler sold enough, the nut was covered.

It cost me $200 for dinner but the commisson on the sale was $2,000. I covered my nut and then some.

Wow, for a day thats not monday, this sure has been a crummy day so far. I got no sleep last night, my car wouldn't start, that dude on the bus kept touching me, the coffee machine is empty and just...wow...its like an under-cover monday.
