Urban is a marketing buzzword used in urban renewal districts (run-down parts areas that the city has decided to restore into lofts, etc.) to let people know that their little store is not rural.

In Portland, Oregon, you can find Urban Fondue, Urban Grind, Urban Outfitters, Urban Fauna, Urban Tan, Urban Advisors, Urban Works, Urban Sports, Real Urban Geographics, Urban Tour Group, and Urban Gardener within walking distance of the Pearl District.

Ur-ban refers to that which is banned or prohibited in the city or civilization. It means that which is banned with the establishment of the city or civilization, and that which began in the city which is banned. The city was and is important for the development of civilization and has many of mankind's great achievements, i.e. art, architecture, government, great cathedrals, commerce, industry, etc. Ur is the first city in history and is in present day Iraq where, along with Iran, civilization is thought to have begun in the area of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

Urban decay is harming civilization.
We need urban renwal projects.
The senator promised relief for the inner city and other urban areas, but I think the senate wants urban areas to be a lost world.
