unmarried

The state of being legally, spiritually or otherwise not married for a specified period of time. This is usually accomplished by a prayer to the powers that be (or a personal deity or through a personal belief system) to suspend any previous marriage contracts. If the person doing the praying is not immediately struck by lightning, then that person is deemed unmarried for the specified period.
