A hep swivel is diverting something with a completly irrelevant question or statement to the subject of conversation. To be used to change the subject, especially when you don't like where the conversation is going.

Swivelstiks is play on words for the name drummers give to their instruments. Many believe swivel sticks are the batons used in marching bands. However it refers to swivelling the sticks between your fingers too add flair. Swivelstiks is a way of insulting a drummer by implying all they can do is flick a stick around their fingers and hit stuff with them.
