Ejection Seating

The intentional, passive-aggressive act of behaving in a sudden, eccentric, or highly unappealing manner (often via text or on a date) to force the other person to end the relationship or ghost you first, thereby avoiding the uncomfortable responsibility of initiating the breakup.

Named after the pilot mechanism used to forcefully propel oneself out of an aircraft in an emergency; in dating, the person hits their own emotional "eject" button by making the situation unworkable for the partner.

"I didn't hear back after my last date, but I think I just got ejection seated—he suddenly started sending me three-page manifestos about his theories on ancient aliens."

"He didn't want to break up with her before the holidays, so he started ejection seating by moving into his mom's basement and only communicating through interpretive dance videos."
