Precession is the assertion that consciousness is actually the structure of time, and it exists in the future.

Precember

Precember is the period in November after the Thanksgiving holiday (US) but before December actually begins.

Precember is part of the Christmas season but technically not in December.

Black Friday is also the first day of Precember!

I wait until Precember to put up our Christmas tree. Before Thanksgiving is just too early.

Peel Precedent

Referring to legendary, late British radio DJ John Peel, the case of the man playing vinyl at the wrong speed (ie. 33rpm at 45rpm or vice versa). The Peel Precedent is often invoked by DJs to excuse their own mistakes. Traditionally, there were three possible outcomes of such a mishap:

1. Peelie would stop the track about 30 seconds in, fluff a jocular apology and then play the track again at the correct speed
2. Peelie would let the track run to its conclusion, then admit his error (or ignorance - a lot of his vinyl had no indication of the correct speed) while arguing that it sounded good at the wrong speed anyway
3. In rare cases, Peelie would let the track run to its conclusion, argue that it sounded great at the wrong speed anyway, and then play the whole track again at the correct rpm, inviting listeners to draw their own conclusions with regard to its quality.

I messed up while DJing last night by playing Plastikman at the wrong speed, but i invoked the Peel Precedent and got away with it. It sounded just as good anyway...

perceived value

Perceived value is an intangible measurement to define elitism or fortune. 1. A credit card company issues a black credit card by invitation only. A second credit card also issues a black credit card for a fee. Both cards are perceived value cards because they offer prestige for not apparent reason. 2. A leased luxury vehicle that is far too expensive to purchase. A perceived value car often sits unused for the final three months to avoid the fifty cent per mile surcharge.

"Bob placed his black credit card in plain sight before the waiter brought the check. The perceived value of the card inflated Bob's ego."

"Claire and her friends drove sixty miles from their perceived value gated community to Laguna Beach or lunch."
