In the game, players control the movement of an icon through music-based levels avoiding obstacles suck as spikes that destroy the icon on impact. You also use many vehicles such as the ship, UFO, and wave and you also can shape shift into figures like the ball, the robot, and the spider. There are also gravity switches and you can get turned around too, all of these things happen when you go through portals unique to whatever's happening. There are also many spinoffs to the game including Geometry Dash: Meltdown (featuring 3 levels with songs from artist F-777), Geometry Dash: SubZero (featuring multiple levels with songs from artist MDK), and Geometry Dash: World
