Most likely originated in the armed services, probably during Vietnam. "Kick ass" is generically applied to beating the opponent, whereas taking names refers to killing the enemy, or "taking their names." Has been adopted into common usage as a general motivational statement.
"CHARLIES OVER THAT RIDGE, LETS KICKASS AND TAKE NAMES!"

1. It just something that you say to someone in response to them thinking that they would Schoo, Put on a clinic, Show them how it is done, Do a number on..., in something such as playing a sport, video games and perhaps Life in general. So therefore, you tell that to someone when you want them to know that you are about to beat them at whatever you and him and/or her are about to do.
- "I am going to Take You To Town in this match of MW3."
- "I would take that girl to town."
- "I am going to take This pizza To Town."

Someone, or something that sounds or looks like it's moving a lot faster than it actually is. Also can be used for somebody that is too impatient/anxious to do something and rushes into it.
Example 1 -
*Car revving its engine really loud and trying to go really fast but not exceeding the speed limit*

Example 2 -
