freestyle cypher

An updated version of the "soul train." Dancers form a circle or "U" shape on the dance floor and a person dances free-form in the middle for a minute or so. Dancers succeed one another without more than a few seconds' gap in between.

None of the locals wanted to join in the freestyle cypher b/c the dancers were so good.

A phalanx of tasks or duties coming at you all at once.
A disorganized load of items to sort and put away.
Anything happening in rapid succession so as to distract you from completing your objective, meeting your goal, or getting done with/at work on time.

"I wanted to get home for supper but the boss threw a caphogeny of stuff at me that he wanted done pronto."
