Rudely cutting into conversation to question or contravene someone's last statement. Provoking controversy with a hidden motive to embarrass or debunk a target whilst remaining unoffensive.

A close relative to white-knighting, though does not provide benefit to the aggressor. Mainly the result of jealousy or general butthurtedness.

boy: "Woah that's like the time we were hanging in the park."
girl: "That makes no sense. What are you talking about?"
