This feeling is similar to having metaphorical slime sticking to your skin, and it's tough to remove. It's the opposite of things that are easily shrugged off or not taken too seriously. Emotional sliming can linger, be very uncomfortable, and not fun to deal with.

When my friend and I had a disagreement, she responded with negative and opinionated comments that made me feel like I was wearing her emotional slime.
