Humanitarian Defense

From the roots, defend + human; Humanitarian Defense is the taking of proactive action to defend human rights and the lives and well being of people. Humanitarian defense actions go beyond simply providing aid, medical treatment and supplies to victims, they take action to prevent and/or reverse the actions that caused the victimization. A Humanitarian Defense operation is one in which an organization, group or government intervenes on behalf of a group of innocent people that are being attacked, victimized or killed and takes direction action to stop said actions.

Eversman defense

Defending one's self by telling that a previous statement was a joke. Mainly used when other people were offended by said statement.
It has nothing to do with the Army Ranger Soldier, but was highly used by a french mythomaniac using the pseudonym "eversman".

John : Dude, black people smell real bad !
Dan : Damn, you're such a racist John.
John : Hey, i was just kidding man !

defensive blanket

A defensive strategy used in ice hockey by Western Conference teams to prevent an opposing team from proceeding through the neutral zone (the area between the blue lines) to force turnovers. Originally coined by CBC analysts, although this same tactic employed by Eastern Conference teams is known as The Trap.

The Canucks threw a defensive blanket over the Blackhawks and kept it there with a minimal number of breakdowns -- rarely venturing over their opponent's blue line.
