"Escape goat" was said on-air in 2002 by UK Big Brother reality show contestent Jade Goody. Scorned by millions, usage picked up, and now it's widely said, by some knowingly aware of the joke, but others unknowingly. The mistake vaguely makes sense because people looking for a "scapegoat" are trying to "escape" blame.

In the context of a blind date, an escape hatch is a pre-arranged call placed by a friend to your cell phone shortly after the start time of the date. If the date is going well, the call can be ignored. If the date is a nightmare so far, you answer, pretend that the caller is informing you of an emergency that requires your presence, then excuse yourself immediately. This allows you to cut the date short without embarrassing either party. The phrase can also refer to the friend who places the call.
You: Hey, I have a date with that guy from nerve.com at 8:00; can you be my escape hatch?
Friend: You want me to call you at 8:30 or 9:00?

Chica: "My brother heard this loud bomb last night outside our house so he grabbed his shotgun and started down the driveway to see who it was."
Duder 1: "Are you serious? Oh my God! That was us. It was a pop bottle bomb. We were just messing with you."
Duder 2: "Holy shit dude would he have shot us?"
Duder 1: "Probably! That was one hell of a death escape."

An American post-hardcore band that originated in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2004. The band got famous by winning a radio contest hosted by My Chemical Romance. They were later signed to Epitaph Records. The original Escape the Fate members were: Ronnie Radke, Max Green, Robert Ortiz, Bryan "Monte" Money, and Omar Espinosa. Their album "Dying is Your Latest Fashion" was released in 2006 with all of the original members. Omar Espinosa left the band for "personal reasons" afterwards. Ronnie Radke was asked to leave the band after he was sentenced to prison in June 2008 for multiple run-ins with the law involving narcotics and battery for a fight that led up to the death of Michael Cook. Due to the departure of Radke, he was replaced by vocalist Craig Mabbitt. Since Mabbitt joined Escape the Fate, the band has release two albums. In 2008, their album "This War is Ours" was released. In 2010, their self-titled album was released.
