Get the drifting on a memory mug.A person who is using an electronic device (i.e. texting, facebook or any other social media) while walking and not paying attention to their surroundings. They typically drift across the side walk and cutoff or collide with other people on the side walk. They are clueless and seem to be on another planet inside their phones. 99% of the time their heads are down while walking, they only lift their heads to take a sip from the coffee they are usually carrying.
The drifter (Noun) was meandering down the street and almost got hit by a car and then walked into a telephone pole.

Get the drifter (Noun) mug.A phenomenon generated by, but not limiting to, the bowling of Thomas Cookson. North Atlantic Drift (or NAD as an abbreviated term) is the action to which a cricket ball 'drifts' towards a batsmen whilst in the air, lulling them into playing the ball to the leg side. However, contrary to physics and cricketing norms, when the ball pitches it turns viciously to the off side, leaving the batsmen dumbfounded, perplexed and more often that not on his/her way back to the pavilion.

Get the North Atlantic Drift mug.A social drifter is generally someone who travels between different social groups from year to year, never growing attatched to one person or group of people. Every person has their own reason for being a social drifter; some do it because they like to avoid problems, others because they have attatchment issues.
Social drifters never seem to have the same friends for more than a year, nor do they stay within a stereotype for very long either. These people are often confused for a bottom feeder or social climber, but for the most part are nothing close to those. They simply drift in and out of people's lives so that for at least a while they can find friends, however temporary they might be.

Every year I see that kid with a different group of friends. He must be a social drifter, always changing his surroundings.

Get the Social Drifter mug.The degree to which an avid viewer of a TV show, cartoon, or internet series notices a slight change in style or content over an extended period of time is called "series drift". Often times, series drift is responsible for the waning of the popularity of such a program. Occasionally, series drift can have a positive affect in attracting a larger audience. In cases when series drift has a strong negative affect, the producers of the program in question may resort to jumping the shark.
