Anarchism

Anarchism is the political philosophy of people seeking a society in which all individuals have the greatest choice in the way they live their lives. Therefore we work towards the creation of a global network of communities formed by voluntary agreements based on co-operation and respect for the freedom of others. We oppose all forms of oppression including sexism, racism, religious intolerance, discrimination on the basis of sexuality, class structures, the governing of one person by another and any other form of authoritarianism or hierarchy that might happen along. Therefore we support the empowerment of individuals and communities working towards freedom, we support genuine resistance to authority. We are not the slightest bit interested in those who merely seek to replace one authoritarian system with another.

Gap Year Anarchist

A phase common amongst more affluent males in their early twenties, which typically requires the exchange of basic hygiene for Bob Marley memorabilia, dreadlocks and second hand military clothing.

Early warning signs include the gradual slurring of speech (as made popular in the movie 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure'), endless discussions of aid increases/debt reduction and an overall musky smell.

A Gap Year Anarchist will subscribe to numerous clichés. Behaviour may include voluntary summertime homelessness/squatting, throwing flour & dancing on a Cenotaph.

The phase ends when the GYA finally succumbs to pleas from his/her family and/or bank manager/student loans company/court, gets a haircut, a job and a life!

First of all you all are the idiots. Anarchists are not people who blow up bombs or pretend to be hardcore just for attention or to make people pissed. They are not all obnoxious 12 year olds who hate their parents. They're not people who draw A's on their hands and on signs for attention. What they are, is people who believe that people should have the freedom to actually run their own lives without someone making their decisions for them. The only reason most of them vote is beacause, if people are going to be so dumb as not to give their ideas any thought, then they might as well have what little say in their lives as they are allowed. What most people see as anarchists is just the stereotype people have developed due to some idiots who decided that anarchy should be a fad. There is no sure way to tell if anarchy will work or not because people are so closed-minded, that they wont even give it any thought.Of course we need something to stop crime but the government, as it has proven many times, sure isn't it.

anarchist's think you should actually run your life instead of having some figurehead run it for you.

Anarchism

NOT as many people think simply not having a government and hierachy, but a PEACEFUL HARMOIOUS state where people are educated to think for themselves.
Most people see this as unworkable because they don't see the second half. Afghanistan, for example is not properly anarchic, as warlords etc still fight to control land. If only they could see how much happier we'd all be if we got along and took time to understand each other....

Basically most common sense is supported by anarchism : Free thought, listening to other people's opinions, pacifism, lack of oppression etc
