The marching band dot symbol for cymbals. The C was already taken by the clarinets, so the next letter in cymbal was chosen: Y. Drumline started calling the marching cymbals, ymbals. (YIM- bell) There is ymbal 1 and ymbal 2.

Another name for ymbals are clankers
