Fad-fans are individuals who follow trends and what's popular based on the number of other people following something. For example, they may follow a recording artist simply because millions of other people are following them in order to feel like they are a part of something huge, as it gives them a false sense of self-worth. Fad-fans are like culture zombies who fear voicing their true opinions due to them not being popular or well known. They tend to abandon artists for the next popular or hot trending artist or item.
Mike follows the music of popular mainstream artists because he's one of those fad-fans who prefers the opinion of the masses instead of his own.

A Fad Switch is like a light switch. It symbolizes how long a fad is held. If someone says 'the fad switch was left on too long' it means the fad has been overused and stayed it's welcome. When someone says 'Turning off the fad switch' it means stopping the fad, and 'The fad is in the dark' means the fad is dead. Catch my drift?
Forum poster 1: Didn't he create the insert fad here?
Forum poster 2: Yeah, someone should have turned off the fad switch in that situation.

A person who quickly and compulsively follows new trends, thoughtlessly abandoning yesterday's bandwagon with lemming-like conviction; someone who jumps from bandwagon to bandwagon.
As soon as Stacy saw the new blog post, she quickly traded out her Spirit Hood for hair feathers. She's such a fad hopper.
