BLIZZARD

A blizzard is a severe snowstorm characterized by strong sustained winds. It lasts for a prolonged period of time—typically three hours or more.

1. Bad weather was experienced, frequent blizzards making the advance difficult.
2. There are, however, during every winter from one to four severe blizzards, which inflict great damage unprotected flocks and herds.
