sloming

An acronym which stands for "sticking leeches on myself." It was coined by an Above the Influence commercial which depicts high school students who are addicted to sticking leeches on themselves-supposedly to get high. The commercial used the term metaphorically to show how the power of peer pressure can influence adolescents to do dumb things-leeches truly cannot get a person high. However, the ad has had an ironic effect. Some brainiacs who view the commercial believe that leeches (which tend to carry many harmful diseases) can actually cause one to become high. Thus, "sloming," which is probably worse for one's health than pot, has actually become a practice among some naive teens.

To show one's age. When an older person makes a comment or action that refers back to times long since past and shows just how old they are, generally alienating the younger generation a bit in the process.

My grandfather made a reference to Howdy Doody today. Man, was he showing the horse and cart.

1. A phrase said to those displaying overly crazy and/or drunken-like behavior in public, much like that seen in Las Vegas.

2. Can also be said to someone who is flashing an undesirable part of their body.

1. Rachel showed her Vegas when she got hammered last weekend and annoyingly jumped in the pool with her clothes on.

2. When Britney attempted to get out of the car, a paparazzi yelled at her, "Your Vegas is showing!" and the cameras went crazy.
