A rock band from the United States, who started playing in 1971. The original members were Alex Chilton, Chris Bells,
Jody Stephens and
Andy Hummels. Unfortunately, their albums/records did not sell much (although they were praised by reviewers), which led to some tensions in the band. As a result, the group disbanded in 1974
However, the group was reformed in 1993 with Alex Chilton,
Jody Stephens,
Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow, and is active at present
Their music has been acknowledged by many other artists and bands to be an inspiration for their own
work, for example R.E.M, Teenage Fanclub, The Replacements and Primal Scream. However, it is not very well known by the general public, which is quite sad, considering their music is extremely nice and awesome
