they copy scene kids, and try to act like them, and dress like them all of a sudden.
they go on google, urban dictionary, or wherever to find out on how to be scene and end up failing miserably. they do it because they think its "cool." because they want to be "in" the group. you can't expect someone not to call you a poser when you come up to school the next day changed completely. true scene kids do not admit they are scene and they usually keep to themselves about it. posers tell everyone they're scene because they want people to see them as scene. for example, you go to the mall and look at a hello kitty shirt. if you say, " oh i like that shirt because it looks scene." your a poser. your trying so hard to be a scene. scene posers get fake lip piercings, they pretend to obssess over metal/death/screamo bands. they are ones who decide suddenly that they are truely scene when they were a preppy girly girl the day before. they are people who act like a scene, when they are truely really far from it.

What punks/skaters/goths call people who try to be punks/skaters/goths but are too mainstream. Personally I think that this whole "anything that's mainstream is bad" idea is retarded. Don't you people realize that if you're punk, goth, skater, or whatever you are that you're still conforming, just to a different group? When everybody's an "individual," no one is. The people you call "posers" are the ones who do what they want and don't care what anybody else thinks, and thats the way it should be. Who the hell are you to decide whats "punk" and whats not? If people think they're punk but they wear Abercrombie, then just let them be, they're being themselves.

I'm a girl, and I wear Abercrombie and American Eagle clothes. I also wear a lot of pink and I wear makeup to school. But if you look in my garage, you will find a $130 skateboard and about 10 different ramps and grind bars. Call me a poser if you want, but I'm just being myself.

This is a word used for people who act, dress, talk like people they aren't. It's a label for a person who is pretending they are someone totally different. It's most often used to describe people calling themsevles "punk."

Lil Johnny Bob is such a f*cking poser. He gets liberty spikes and puts safety pins in everything he owns and now automatically assumes he's a punk rocker child?! Bullsh*t!

Also spelled "Poseurcore", the word is a rip on all of the bands that think they kick ass, but in real life, they're fucking poseurs. Examples include: Most bands with "-core" at the end of the genre name, all Emo bands, the Warped Tour lineup, and recent Green Day.

Coined in this conversation outside a Hot Topic:

Friend: "Dude, those bands piss me off! Come on, Christcore?! Metalcore?! Give me a break."

Me: "We should just group all those bands together and call it 'Posercore'."

One of the most overused words in the english language, especially by teens, and is probably one of the dumbest words as well. A poser is supposed to describe a person who pretends to be something they aren't and/or like something they don't. This word is too broadly used, and puts down people who want to try new things and want to get away from their past likings. I think it's a dumb word and the person who first used it should be punched in the family jewels.

idiot: Omg John is such a poser he wears Etnies and doesn't skate!!!
me: Why? because he likes their clothes?

idiot 2: Chris is a poser because he listens to punk but isn't really into punk
