1)Referring to an image, or variants of it, in which a soldier is holding a canteen and a caption which reads 'how about a nice big cup of shut the fuck up'. may have other phrases present, such as 'now here's to sugars now piss off', 'think before you say something stupid', or may be as is.

2)A somewhat cynical and safe-for-public way of telling somebody to shut it right away without the appearnace of being too offensive to others.

Example of The Nice Guy rule in action: In England, there was a bank robbery and the robber couldn't open the front door, because his hands were full of money, an innocent bystander is walking by and sees the man struggling with the door and holds it open for him, that man was arrested for assisting an armed robbery.
