Like the Harvey Walbanger or Tom Collins, it's a drink named after a guy for easy ordering in crowded noisy bars. It's simply the cheapest beer at the bar and can change by location and time of day (e.g. Happy Hour).

Barney Complex

The Barney complex refers to people who have an undeserved sense of privilege and overly inflated ego and have nothing to back it up. It all goes back to that purple dinosaur we all watched on PBS as kids. Everyday he told everyone that you're special, and that Sally was special. and that Sam was also special. Well kids, lets face it....we're not all special. Get over yourself.

Sally is complaining about being under appreciated at work again, I wish she'd get over her Barney complex and just do her work.

Barney

A male skateboarder, over 40, who wears full pads (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet) 1980's skateboarding fashion, and talks very loudly about when they skated back in the day with dog-town and z-boys. Usually barneys are found in groups, with a particularly overweight guy taking photos of tricks that are not at all impressive. A barney loves telling other non-padded skateboarders, especially female skateboarders, that they wear pads because they are so old, but in fact, are not that old. A barney will pad up even if there is no vert in sight. A barney will speak loudly and cheer unnecessarily loudly when their friends do boring, unimpressive tricks or if a female skateboarder does something unimpressive, like dropping into the bowl. Barneys play music while they skate, which matches their 1980's clothing and pad styles, and consists of one style of music from the 1980's (example: Dead Kennedys).

The bowl is filled with barneys on Saturday morning; let's skate in the afternoon instead.
