MGTOW is a lifestyle where heterosexual males choose to not pursue romantic relationships with women due to an awareness of the potential negative consequences of doing so.
Examples of relationships MGTOW men abstain from are Marraige, Co-habitation, Long-term Relationships, Short-term Relationships, and casual romantic encounters.
The rationale most given is that formalized relationships like marriage carry with it the risk of losing a substantial amount of assets and future income in a divorce should one occur, with current statistics as of 2010 showing that there is a high probability of a marriage ending in divorce, and that a vast majority of divorces are initiated by women.
Other non-formalized romantic relationships are avoided because of perceived dangers of false accusations of sexual impropriety, or child-support being imposed for a child the man does not consent to care for. Prevelant trends of cancel-culture and the metoo movement also present social consequences without criminal or civil liability. MGTOW men choose to avoid all negative consequences of these romantic relationships.

A group of men that have decided that catering to selfish and unpleaseable and fickle women, isn’t the right way for them to get ahead in life.
They typically shun all standard relationships, and occasionally date around.
The normal thought process is that: men can become financially and spiritually in abundance by not spending all their time chasing/supporting women.
The typical theory is that women cannot do this, and typically act out angrily when presented with the opinion.

Men Going Their Own Way; abstaining from relationships with women. They do this for many things, like: fear of a false rape accusation, losing child custody battles, no-fault divorce, having their prenup thrown out, or them simply trying to focus on their personal lives. There is no one kind of MGTOW, it all depends on how they choose to defend/improve themselves (go their own way).
