Teaching Assistant

A graduate/doctoral student who as part of their requirements assists a professor in their area of study with large lectures. They are often knowledgable about the material and are available to provide extra help to students who do not understand the material. Most TAs are fairly young (1-2 years older than undergraduate seniors) and the professors give them the sole responsibility of handling the grading of exams and other assignments. However, do not be fooled by their sincerity and kindness. They will not cut you any slack if you failed an exam because you're boyfriend broke up with you or your dog ate your homework. God, help you if they catch you cheating or plagiarizing because they will make your life a living hell. And in most cases, they are extremely harsh with their grading and they are usually told to manipulate grades so that the average falls below a certain grade.

They are often overworked by the entire department for which they are employed by. Often times they have their own coursework, projects, and research to focus on but since they need the money to stay in grad school they agree to help with coursework. Since they are essentially at the mercy of the department, it's likely that they will take their frustration out on your grades and you will most likely not do very well in the courses.
Student: Yo, Todd my Teaching Assistant is mad chill. I saw him drunk at the bar last night and he told me that I would get an A in the course.

Two days later

Student: WTF, I thought I was gonna do well. My TA is such a jerk.

Student 2: Please change my grade, I'll do anything.
TA: Sorry, I wouldn't have time for anything....

Student 3: If I don't get an A in this class, I'll get disowned by my family.
TA: I was disowned the moment I graduated college, it's honestly not that bad.

techies

Short for technicians. The people that make your shows happen. Often seen backstage, on the grid and any other dark space. Has a wide range of skills, knows how to fix anything with a role of duct tape. Rather sexual, doesn't need an excuse to feel you up. Always there for eachother. Strage obssessions with glowtape. Doesn't know what to do with self when tech is cancled. Basicly lives in the theater. Shows would be nothing without them. GO, techies, GO!
Those techies are strage creatures, I think one just tried to feel me up.

Techie

The guardians of silence; the masters of darkness. They wear the blackness of midnight, and walk as the wind does; sometimes silently, sometimes howlingly, but always swiftly and with purpose. They live behind the curtains.

They are the ninjas.
The actors are the pirates.
If you see a techie, it is because they want you to.

accidental techie

The accidental techie is usually a person who understands computers or office equipment better than most in the organization, and can figure out how to adapt the knowledge to the organization's needs. This is the go-to person for technology issues at an office that doesn't have or can't afford tech support.
After Jason fixed Ellie's screen resolution he quickly became the accidental techie.

techie

1. a person who routinely wears all black and carries around a wrench and flashlight. Many times seen eating pie backstage.
2. a crucial part of a show, where if there were no techies, the show would not go on.
1. All those TCT techies, all they do is sit around and eat pie.
2. If the show works, the actors get credit, if it bombs, blame it on the techies.

techie

Someone who is working in the technology sector and appears to be annoyingly down to earth and woke—likes rock climbing, wears athleisure, doesn't drink or smoke, goes to festivals—but who is in actuality a cog in an evil system designed to economically subjugate and displace their respective city's population of non-technology workers (low-income, POC, families, elderly, artists, public workers) by driving up rent prices, buying government officials, co-opting all formerly accessible and relevant cultural events, and straining existing infrastructure through privatization.
Ex. Techies are turning Seattle into the next San Francisco.

If our new neighbors are techies I will scream.
