haptodysphoria

An unpleasant sensation caused by touching certain materials like velvet, peaches, or velour. Haptodysphoria is neither a fear nor slang, and shouldn't be in this dictionary.

hatty hattington

Hatty Hattington is from the game Battleblock Theater. Inside of the storyline, you and Hatty are on the ship called the S.S Friendship and crash apon the Theater island. You wake up to find him missing, and you go into the theater. You see Hatty Hattington being held up by two human sized cats wearing guard outfits, with another cat holding a tophat that's glowing red. The cat then goes and puts the hat on Hatty Hatting, turning him evil and having constant tears running down his face. He then flies up and finds you, of which you then run but fail. Then the game actually begins. Throughout the game you find Hatty Hattington at every gift shop above the door. He looks lifeless. At the end of the game you rescue him and you get onto the ship and it set sails again. You try to interact with him and he doesn't move, you try to give him hugs, HE FREAKING LOVES HUGS! But it doesn't work, after realizing he's dead you toss him overboard, of which the song then begins for the credits. At the end he lands at the bottom of the ocean, the tophat lands on him and a bean comes out the ocean. That is the end we know of Hatty Hattington in Battleblock Theater. He is also an unlockable character in Castle Crashers if you have both Battleblock Theater and Castle Crashers.
Hatty Hattington is the friend of all friends.

Mad As a Hatter

If someone says you are mad as a hatter, they are accusing you of being quite irrational. The sense of madness here is "suffering from a disorder of the mind; insane." This phrase usually refers not to someone who is actually insane, but rather to a more normal person who is behaving in an irrational way.
The phrase emerged in England in the 19th century. Hatmakers in those days used a lot of felt that was treated with chemicals including lead, arsenic, and mercury.
Unfortunately, those chemicals are highly toxic. The symptoms of such poisoning include palsy, confused speech, and distorted thinking. Today, making hats is a much safer profession, but the phrase survives.
An interesting alternate explanation of the phrase derives hatter from Anglo-Saxon atter (poison), which is related to adder (a poisonous snake whose bite was thought to cause insanity).

Hathor

Hathor is a very ancient goddess, dating to predynastic times. When dynastic rule began, as Horus was associated with the king, Hathor was with the queen. Her name translates to "The House of Horus," and so she is associated with the royal family. But also, as the entire world could be said to be the House of Horus, Hathor can be seen as the mother-goddess of the whole world, similar to Isis.
Hathor's cult is unusual; as both men and women were her priests (most deities had clerics of the same gender as they). Many of them were artisans, musicians, and dancers who turned their talents into creating rituals that were nothing short of works of art. Music and dance were part of the worship of Hathor like no other deity in Egypt. Hathor herself was the incarnation of dance, and stories were told of how Hathor danced before Ra when he was in despair to cheer him up. Inspiration was also Hathor's bailiwick, and many would come to the temples of Hathor to have their dreams explained or to beseech her for her aid in creation, much in the same way the Greeks invoked the Nine Muses.
