drive-by management

A management style bearing the characteristics of a drive-by shooting. Typically, this involves firing off pointers at subordinates with a total lack of regard for accuracy or willingness to take personal responsibility. The manager will then make a quick getaway without accomplishing anything.

Ken got hit with drive-by management when his supervisor blew past with a coffee mug and offered his two cents.

Egg Management Fee

When you purchase an article or service and they quote you a price only to find out that there are other "Egg Managment Fee's" that are hiden or not quoted. This new phrase is taken from the Ally Bank commerical that takes eggs from the little kid without him knowing or agreeing to it. In the commercial he takes a portion of the kids eggs calling it an egg managment fee. Basicly taking something without having it acknowledged in the beginning.

You call and make a reservation at a hotel and they quote you a price of $140. You assume that the only thing left out is the tax so in your head you calculate that it is $140 plus 13% (HST) or $158.20. When you check out the hotel statment has Evironment Tax of $7.25 and a Tourist Tax of $4.25. I refer these to additional expenses as "Egg Management Fee" as these are hiden and never told to us as part of the initial room charge until we check out.

When a manager comes whizzing through the cubicles to see if you need anything from him/her without stopping to listen to your answer. Way for manager to know what his/her people are doing.

When the object of an unrequited crush tries to maintain friendly ties with the smitten party without selfishly leading him/her on.

When L. realized he was on the receiving end of some world-class crush management, he was hurt of course, but appreciated J.'s thoughtfullness.

Ouija-board management

A style of management whereby the project as a whole is slowly moving in one direction or another, but when asked who is in charge (and by extension who is to blame for the slow progress) all hands come off the board, all progress stops and no one individual is to blame.

When asked how the new project was going Joe replied "With the Ouija-board management going on I am surprised we have accomplished this much"

When information is conveyed, it is incomplete, inaccurate, or full of marketing hyperbole (throw shit on them).

Large, hierarchical, process-bound organizations are frequently guilty of the most egregious forms of "mushroom management."

Formica Management

The management fault of appearing outwardly sophisticated, but underneath having the competence and substance of chipboard.

"They're a whacky company to deal with, but they've got Formica management"

Also used as "formica" to define similarly flimsy people, enterprises or governments.

ie "George Bush has a Formica administration"
