Crick

A synonym for creek in parts of rural Washington & Oregon. Generally speaking, the work Crick is used to refer to a small flowing body of water within close proximity to one's home. The work creek will be used to describe a small flowing body of water much further away.

Brother: Let's go play down at the crick.
Sister: Great idea, I love the crick. When we go to Grandma's house in Seattle we can play in the creek by her house, too.
