bling bling

1) A style of flashy attire, usually chains, worn by those pretending to be gangersters of some sort in an attempt to be the largest and flashiest looking.

2) Important lyrics of a touching folk ballad I wrote one day while bored.
1) Direct examples may be found in most rap videos, although the origins of this behaviour may be traced back to the male peacock, whose large tail allowed him to attract several mates while at the same time rendering him defenseless against predators, or in the case of rappers, useless to society.

2) Bling bling bling goes the gangster,
Bang bang bang goes the gun!

Whereas bling and blingbling refer to the imaginary sound that is produced by the internal refraction of light in cut diamond, blang and blangblang refers to sound of light refracting inside QVC's Diamondite. blangblang is mainly used as an ironic substitute for blingbling- a phrase now favored by the mtv generation.

bling bling

Huge, flashy, often tacky jewelry worn by the hip-hop crowd or pretty much anyone who considers himself/herself to be "ghetto". The word probably came from the noise that accompanies the little shiny spark on jewelry in old cartoons. Examples of bling-bling include big diamond pinkie rings or gigantic diamond stud earrings, but usually it means a very large gold chain or diamond-encrusted pendant.
