The opposite of waxing poetic. A sentence that starts off beautifully poetic but goes to rubbish; a poem that by the end is just, sort of, words.

Kent - "Roses are red,

the slang definition of 'poetic' is usually a male that wears cardigans, fitted pants and dresses quite nicely. This person is usually also well spoken. It is difficult to tell if someone 'poetic' is gay.

Usually this person comes out of the closet as gay in about a year... But at the time all you can call them is poetic, because it is hard to say if they ARE gay or not.

Not all well dressed, well spoken males are gay, but the ones that are have a certain swagger about them that yells 'not straight' but are they... gay?

men are poetic when their sexual preferences are questionable.

Jessica: Greg's brother is...

Lauren: ...

Jessica: ...

Lauren: Poetic looking.

Jessica: Yeah, look at his button up cardigan.

Lauren: And how he interacts with females.

Poetry Slam

An event that takes place during school hours in which fat black women tell you how they don't want to be treated as objects, people tell their girlfriends how lustful they are, minorities telling you how they don't want to be judged, and politics by the boatload. All of these things will eventually consume not only your class time, but they will also eat into your lunch time, to the point where you have just enough time to buy food from the vending machine, and eat it on the way to your next class.

Person 1: dude, the Poetry Slam is tomorrow.
Person 2: well I better pack a lunch and some earplugs.

Poetic Popcore

A genre of music that is often mistaken for emo by ignorant teeny boppers. Poetic popcore can often be classified as anything considered emo on MTV. Poetic popcore bands can often be found by the lyrics that are considered 'emotional' by the people who listen to them, but the lyrics are actually washed-up and laughable.

Lyrics such as:
"So slit my wrist and black my eyes"
and
"I'm not oh-fucking-kay"

are the standard for poetic pop-core lyrics.
