A lazy, low-effort, or blatantly wrong/hallucinated response from an AI (especially to super basic questions), where the output is obviously wrong garbage smeared across the screen instead of actual thought. From "clanker" (the 2025+ robophobic slur for dumb AIs/robots) + "smear" for the sloppy, half-assed mess. Super common now with overhyped models just phoning it in.
The term also covers the infuriating wall-of-text replies AIs dump on straightforward questions, and overly verbose rambles, these bloated responses are just as useless as the flat-out wrong ones, both hallmarks of peak clank smear.
