Possibly the most overrated school on the main line. Somehow was ranked number 2 on the main line behind the haverford school. They could not compete in the inter-ac so they had to leave the conference, and join the worst conference in the state. No one knows why the school gets so much hype.... maybe because parents of children there run the papers and magazines?? Very artsy school, sucks at most sports except crew. The guys are tools, the girls are beat. I would go there but im not an artsy non athletic freak.

Get the Charter School mug.A boarding school from the outside perspective is a school that's for parents that care about their kids getting the best of their education.
A boarding school from the inside perspective (the one which I go to) is quite an ordinary school like any others. The differences is that there are more diverse groups, and at the same time these groups have a tendency to self-segregate themselves by language barriers/likeliness, although with some overlapping. There are the same "weed, drug, smoke, alcohol, sex" people, nevertheless some of them are responsible, some are not (given the laws of their native countries). There are greater expenditures spent on facilities and technology (like Smart Boards/Laptops for everyone/etc), but at the same time theres Internet Censorship (blocking i.e. websense). There are some mandatory practices depending on what school you go to, such as joining a club/activity, playing sports, going to chapel, etc. Some schools have more extracurriculars than others, and some schools have varying degrees of freedom for students. Most people at the boarding schools dislike the schedule/routine/rules involved such as curfew, staying after 3/4pm, weekend school, etc.

Yes, there are rich people (who own farms, businesses, mansions, private jets), but these are also a minority. At least 30% or typically on scholarships or financial assistance, and I have not found any notable differences. I have heard from my friends that the girls here are "harder to get", more "bitchy", alas whether thats true or not, its up to you to decide.
Most boarding schools do try to bullshit on their brochure a lot on traditions, upstanding values, and extraordinary/exemplary civilized students; which most of the case is probably not true, but there are students like that anywhere, which is not limited to just boarding schools. You do meet people all over the world, but there are little differences, with the exception of minor lifestyle changes that people experience such as schedule shifts, servants/rules, etc.
Unfortunately, when I look back at the year books from earlier years, most of the students tend to be homogenous in nature with respect to ethnicity. (White, rich, has some of that early styles hair); but the landscape has significantly changed, given that there are Asians, Blacks, Whites, Africans, Anglos, etc.

Get the boarding school mug.A very entertaining and just all around awsome alternative in Great Neck NY. The school was originaly filled to the brim with pot heads and other socialy unaccepted high school kids.
In recent years (The) Village School has slowle morphed from a school for troubled students to a school with kids who don't fit in with Great Necks norm of the japy life style. Although Village School Students are still looked down to as weird and pot headesq many Village School student know there superiority over most (very few excluded) kids who attend Great Neck North High which is the "normal" (meaning non-alternative)district high school of the surounding area.
The school has a strict limit of 50 students. The 50 students have seperated into 3 mojor cliques wich are
1.The Jocks: Although these people have the capability to be even slightly human like they choose not to. They all gather in the commons durring lunch with 1 or 2 girls who just like the attention. These guys sit there and talk about the most retarded things and gossip like little teenage girls. Not all the people in this clique are jocks. Some are just random guy whos don't fit in any other clique so they prefer to be among the lower life forms.
2.Drama Kids: This seems to be the superior clique within this school. Even though it is smaller than the last clique it still retains the most power in general. All of the problems which eventualy sweep the school durive here and at any given moment you can find atleast 1 of these kids at either the Great Neck North auditorium or at Levels. These kids seem to have the most promising futures and will eventualy take over the world. Both Niki Blonsky (star of the upcoming 2007 movie hairspray) and Ilan Hall (Winner of 2007s Top Cheff 2) originated in this clique in this school.
3.Computer Kids: Everyone else hangs out in the computer room. The kids in here are usualy too awkward to be part of any other clique in the school or are currently pending admition into the drama kids clique. These guys tend to be quiet and loners untill accumulated into this room.
All and all the students of The Village School tend to be troubled in one way or another but have extreme inteligence that would make one like myself feel below average but are for the most part emotionably unstable.
other stuff about the school
-made up of 2 building with only 6 classrooms and the rest are just hang out spots
-staff made up of 6 teachers and Rocco (highly loved janitor)
-limit of 50 students
-many emotionaly immature or too mature for there own good
-oh yah theres a Village School Mating Call or the VSMC for short but thats top secret and can only be heard on rare occations in public. like full moons for example

Get the village school mug.A school that you must pass an entry exam, get at least a GPA of a B+, and it gives you a better education than public shchools. Private schools don't cost much, though-only about 65,000-150,000 a year. Some are really cheap and cost 20,00 though.
