feeding two birds with one scone

The vegan version of "killing two birds with one stone." Getting two things done that takes the effort of only one or two things getting done at once that usually has to be done separately. An "idiom" (play on words) of an old saying. An aphorism.
I had to go to the grocery store and post office. So, instead of going to the grocery store and then going home to put the groceries away and then back out to go to the post office, I would go to the post office first, then go to the grocery store, thereby "feeding two birds with one scone."
