Shōgun

Shogun officially Sei-i Taishōgun was the title of the military dictators of Japan during most of the period spanning from 1185 to 1868.

The title 'Sei-i Taishogun', which means a military commander to fight barbarians, first appeared during the Heian period of Japanese history (794-1185). The Sei-i Taishogun was appointed by the Emperor to eliminate those who resisted the government.
