Social workers

1. A person who works with at-risk populations.

Some who work in this field are wounded healers, some people are burnt out, but many realize the gravity of the work they perform and have a great deal of empathy and compassion for the people they serve. Sometimes a social worker's involvement is unnecessary, but many times it is needed. Many people have negative experiences with social workers because the social worker comes into their life when their family is in crisis. This is specifically the case in child welfare, but understand it is known among child welfare social workers, that child welfare is the most intrusive form of government.

Social workers are not just child welfare workers, but mental health counselors/therapists, non-profit workers (such as domestic violence shelters, group home workers, family resource centers), hospital staff, some lawyers and judges, lobbyists, drug treatment counselors and many more.
The social workers helped me realize it was time to get off drugs.

workaround

a sad excuse for a bug fix.
Nullsoft forum lackies suggest using cross fade and other weird settings in winamp 5.01 that effect other aspects of audio file play in order to workaround the bug that produces gaps between cd audio tracks.

worked up

Anticipating the outcome to bring release of built up simmering juicy and deliciously stirring emotions;

Hormonly aware of titillating images;

Anxious and anticipatory for an outcome or answer.

Excessively affected by emotion
"Justin was so worked up over his sisters friend he would feel sweaty and excited for her return"

"Gabe was all worked up in anticipation for the expected date with the model"

"Every night before bed he would get worked up over the blonde girls picture"

Waiting to see if she was picked to dance for the next song, Mellissa would get worked up before it even started.

workend

Derived from "weekend," a workend--pronounced work-end-- is what one has when one spends their Saturday, Sunday, and possibly even Friday, doing nothing but something.

To be blunt: saying "I had a workend" is a quick way of saying "I didn't do anything but work this weekend, fuck my life."
Bob: Jeff, you coming to the movies this week?
Jeff: Nah man, I've got a workend.
Bob: Sorry bro, that history paper's a bitch.

Alice: Hey Jeff, what'd you do this weekend?
Jeff: I had a workend.
Alice: That stinks. History paper?
Jeff: Yep.

Woker-than-thou

Someone who believes to be more "woke" than the average population. This person always tried to dominate a conversation and ridicule opposing viewpoints. His views are the smartest and the most ethical. Any attempt to make him or her see a different point of view would be a sign of willful ignorance.
Stop acting so woker-than-thou! You don't have the answer to the world's problems.
