Status Virus

When somebody posts an "informational" status about something, usually related to facebook itself, ending with "please re-post" as a public information announcement. This causes other people to post the same message, making you only able to see that message because it spreads like a virus.

a situation where loads of people update their Facebook statuses in a short period of time, usually at Christmas or new years at 00.01am.

status theif

A term used to describe a person who goes out of their way to steal your facebook status. These people normally claim that the status is either 'not yours' or 'posted before you can post it.'

Person 1: *on Facebook*"Money just changed everything"
Person 2:*on Facebook* "Money just changed everything"
Person 1: Dude! Stop being a status theif!
Person 2: It's technically not stealing if you put it on Facebook.

status kill

When an akward co-worker, family friend, ect. comments on a status and "ruins" the status. The status also may be an inside joke and is then ruined by an akward person asking what it means. Often the comment or status is removed to prevent further akwardness.

Amy: Had so much fun with the girls!
Kathy: who are "the girls" and what did you do?

A status that you write on Facebook, which gains several comments and likes, resulting in it showing up on your friends' "Top News" feeds. This, via The Mathew Effect, results in more comments and likes. (Plural: viral stati)
