Panayoti

The Americanization of Panagiotis, a relatively common name in Modern Greece. Derived from Greek "Pan" (all) and "agios" (saint, or holy), it derives from the honorific of the Virgin Mary (Panayia). There is female equivalent of the name as well: Panayota. It is comparable in meaning to French "Toussaint" and Spanish "Todos Santos", which have been relatively common names in their respective countries, although the connotation in Greek is subtly different.

When I joined Facebook, I was surprised to find a plethora of people with my unsual name: Panayoti and several shared my surname.

Payday

A really beautiful and exciting day, which sadly, only happens once a month for most of us, but which means that we've temporarily got money in our pockets again. Sadly though, it's normally pretty bloody short-lived, 'cos we're normally absolutely flat-broke again before the week's out.
