backside attack

Proper: A chemistry term used to describe the transfer of electrons and subsequent bonding of a neucleophile to the back face of a molecule. The back side described is the chiral center, with subsistents in a tetrahedral formation facing away from the nucleophile. Once the backside attack is complete, the stereochemistry of the molecule is inverted.

chem eng slang: A difficult academic situation. It is often used to describe the difficulty of an assignment or a test. Synonymous with ass rape.

Backseat Moderator

A message board user who, though they do not actually hold the position of moderator, has some twisted sense of duty which they feel they must fulfill. This user seems to believe that the moderator is a retarded monkey that needs to be led around by the hand and told which threads need to be locked or deleted.

The backseat moderator can often be seen jumping up and down and frantically waving their arms, trying to draw attention to a thread which surely is offensive and stupid to the highest degree and must be locked immediately. In reality, the real moderator has probably looked at the topic and seen nothing which crosses the line.

The backseat moderator may also be a backseat administrator, letting everyone know which users need to be banned. Though the backseat moderator is irritating, there is nothing which can be done unless the real authority on the board takes matters into its own hands, and ejects them from the board in a hilarious example of irony.

"This topic is dumb. Lock it please!"

Backseat martial artist

Someone who doesn't actually practice a martial art of any sort, but loves to comment on them like their an expert. Quite similar in concept to that of a backseat driver. They tend to obtain most of their martial knowledge from internet video clips, free TV airings of fights, and sometimes they might even spring for a pay-per view match. A common favorite move of the backseat martial artists to try and perform is the armbar, which they typically learn from watching old clips of Royce Gracie and not from an actual dojo.

Once only staunch supporters of BJJ, they have now decided to extend some of their divine credibility to that of Muay Thai.

Person: What kind of kung fu should I take?
Backseat Martial Artist: Take BJJ

BMA2: Grappling is the most effective form of fighting, therefore you should definitely try to use it against multiple opponents.

BMA3: That won't work in real life, trust me I know

BMA4: Well in a real fight............... *5 paragraphs of bad spelling later*.... and thats why you should take BJJ
