One of the great and enduring freedoms implicit in COVID times, that of being able to swear up a quiet storm beneath your facial mask whereas previously you had to inhibit this.

I took to the frequent “silent facial mask rant,” hoping that I could do away with this nasty and unsociable habit once we are all able to unmask ourselves in the distant future.

Running Silent

In nautical terminology Running Silent (also known as Silent Running) is defined as a standard operating procedure used by the crew on a submarine when they wish to become or remain as undetectable as possible.

Slang Term: The act by a person to either avoid complete detection or to minimize one's presence. To hide or be deceptive or sneaky.

Similar slang expressions are: Going Ghost, Hide and Seek, Under the Radar, Stealth Mode, Duck and Cover, On the Down-Low, etc.

Ever since I asked Damian about the money he owes me he's been running silent and avoiding me at every opportunity.

silent laughter

When something is so funny, or you are in a state of such slap happiness, that regular laughter transforms into an almost silent and uncontrollable activity. Usually accompanied by tears, silent laughter is most likely the best kind of laughter. You have to make a conscious effort to remember to breathe as your lungs lose air fast in the process of silent laughing. Your ribs start to ache and you begin to wonder if you'll be physically able to take a deep breath before resorting to more silent laughter. Friends and family may laugh at you in this state, or they may be joining in right next to you. Concerned strangers will stare at you and seriously consider finding you help, or they may just hide you from their children.

After I mentioned an inside joke, I looked over to my friend who was doubled over with silent laughter.

Most mentally/physically/emotionally disturbing psychological horror game series ever. Designed to exploit basic inner fears of the average person, potentially giving major long-lasting nightmares.

Definitely not for those weak of mind nor children, the games have a warning screen about the extremely violent graphic and disturbing scenes.
