A person who self-identifies as such because they think you might be interested to know that they enjoy a wide variety of food from all around the globe and frequent expensive eateries. Poor people cannot be foodies.

Foodie: I'm a foodie.

Non-foodie: Oh.....awesome.

Straight Foldies

A colloquial term common in New Zealand for currency in the form of notes, hence the folding. Often used with regards to under the table transactions to avoid tax.

1: I've got $100 straight foldies yo!

2: I'll give you a discount if you pay straight foldies, so I don't have to put it through the till.

A health foodie is anyone who is very passionate about eating healthily. They enjoy trying new healthy foods and avoid junk at all costs.

Brittany: "Have you checked out Sprouts Farmers Market yet? I went the other day and they have all kinds of healthy foods to choose from!"
Lisa: "Not yet, but I drove past it the other day."
Brittany: "You know me, I'm always looking for more places that have health foods so I had to check it out. I'm such a health foodie!"

A person that spends a keen amount of attention and energy on knowing the ingredients of food, the proper preparation of food, and finds great enjoyment in top-notch ingredients and exemplary preparation.
A foodie is not necessarily a food snob, only enjoying delicacies and/or food items difficult to obtain and/or expensive foods; though, that is a variety of foodie.

Because he was a foodie, he liked to collect menus from restaurants which prepared food he enjoyed.

A sandwich made from a single piece of bread, folded over.

Not to be confused with "a half a sandwich", as foldies naturally taste better due to their unique construction and title.
