chime in the slime

Local term for a digital counter with a green readout submerged in the River Liffey immediately upstream of O'Connell Bridge, Dublin, Ireland some time in the mid-1990s and intended to count away the remaining seconds to the start of the year 2000 CE. Within a matter of weeks it was clogged up with scum and dirt, broke down and had to be removed.

Chime Dog

A person - usually in a public forum such as a seminar or public speaking event - that likes to "chime in" unsolicited comments when the speaker is speaking or giving his or her presentation. That person's incessant chimes are reminiscent of a barking dog that impedes the natural flow of the presentation.

"Man, can you believe that chime dog in the pinstriped suit from this morning? 30 minutes in I wanted to tell him to shut the F* up and to put a dog muzzle on his face."

Chime-time

Is when a thief moves past chimes with speed or energy fast enough such that the chimes play a quick tune and then go silent. Could also be a thief in and out, no delays, and moving thru whatever is in their way including the chimes.

When Mama said the babies were hungry and their was no food or money, Papa knew it was chime-time.

Someone who consistently interjects into conversations they are not invited into, stating the obvious or repeating something that has been previously said; adding nothing of value to the conversation.

“Hey Chris, did you hear that Zach got with Caroline?” Jake, who is not in the conversation, exclaims, “Dude, that’s so heinous.” “Okay, chime minister” says Chris.

ghetto wind chime

Any car with an alarm which is consistently activated by the slightest movement or vibration. Every low-income neighborhood has at least a few ghetto wind chimes present at all times. Frequently parked near sketch pads.

There are way too many ghetto wind chimes around here...they start sounding off every time a bird takes a shit on someone's windshield.
