It is often accompanied by a democracy, similar to that of the United States Government. The United States of America is a democratic republic, and although there is much debate on the status of the United States Government, it should be known that democracy is a form of government where the general populous votes on policy directly or to appoint a representative, and that the original name for the Republican party was the Democratic-Republican Party.
