People who deny the fact that some things simply cannot be explained through scientific observations and logical thinking. They deny the possibility that some things in this universe are beyond the understanding of humans. In other words, they do not believe that there is a God.
When a person who was paralysed for thier entire life suddenly gets healed when he/she get filled with the Holy Spirit, there is simply no scientific explanation to show for it. This is what we call Faith, and Faith can sometimes overflow human understanding. No, that person who was healed did not undergo a "rare coincidence," but rather a miracle as a rewarding example of his/her faith. However, some atheists would spend days, weeks, months, or even years trying to explain what had happened with science because they won't accept the fact that supernatural things do occur. (some of this borrowed from a Christian point of view)

A person who simply does not believe in any higher power. Some people say we worship the devil, but this is not possible, because we do not believe in the devil. Some say it is an excuse to do wrong things or not to do good things. This is also a false statement. Some say that atheist hat Christians, actually, seeing the previous definitions, it's the Christians doing most of the hating. Some people say that it's just a bunch of kids going around trying to be cool. I don't think me being atheist makes me any cooler, seeing as I don't prance around school yelling "I'm atheist!" I'm pretty sure no one else does that either... We do not hate all religions, actually, my best friend is actually very religious. She is Part of Jehovah's Witness, which by the way is not a cult and no one should be judged in any way by their religion, non-religion, or beliefs unless of course they push it on other people. Then they aren't very nice people.
Atheist: I'd like to donate this to the charity fund

2. Often characterized as "arrogant" or "misfortunate"/"damned to hell" for not having faith in any religion of sorts.

The word Atheist refers to someone who is a follower of the Atheist Religion. The religion of Atheism was founded between 20-25AD by Arad Atheus, a Gomorrahn Shepard who was actively involved in and, though not known for certain, is said to have led the campaign to ban Jesus from preaching. Arad Atheus was conservative in his ways and saw Jesus's progressive philosophy of life and promotion of abstention to be harmful and restrictive of the common people's natural desires. Atheus had followers similar in number, perhaps even higher, than those gathered by Jesus. Atheus died of leprosy at the age of 40, shortly before the crucifixion of Jesus. Atheus contributed greatly to the edict that ultimately sent Jesus to his death. The holy book of Modern Atheism is The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins - the current High Priest of Atheism. Approximately 15% of the world are Atheists and Atheists use the findings of science rather than the idea of an almighty God to explain the universe
