tool 

There are several defining traits of a tool; if one or more of these characteristics apply to you, then you are a tool.

1. You often feel used by your "friends", who usually make fun of you to both to your face and behind your back, but act polite if you have something they want. Of course, because you're desperate to be accepted, you give it to them.

2. You buy into whatever trend seems in at the moment because you have no identity or sense of pride. If you're emo, pass out at parties after 4 drinks to show off to people that you're drunk, or wear a pink shirt with the collar popped in a vain attempt to appear "secure with your masculinity", then you're a tool and haven't realized it yet.

3. You listen to Tool and think they are the pinnacle of musical talent because they call themselves "prog", but are actually boring and mediocre.

Tool 

An insult given to a gullible, clueless, or easily persuaded individual. When used as a noun, a tool is simply an object that can make an impossible task possible. (i.e., removing a screw without a screwdriver)

For example:

Mary: “Pass me a tool, Sally.”

Sally: *Innocently picks up Jim and deposits him at Mary’s feet.*

A guy who goes to the gym everyday and all this guy talks about is the gym and how big he is, also about the supplements he uses at the gym. He spends all his money on supplements or steroids. he flexes a lot when hes around girls and all the girls think he is a TOOL.

A tool is many things it can be used to build stuff.
It can be a person who says the wrong shit.
It can be an anonym for cool.
The most common explanation is that it's referred to a poser.
However most of the labelers of this word commonly have a spec in their eye when they label tools. Most people throw the term around so much without realizing that they're an idiot. Conicedently, another defination for tool is someone who doesn't realize they're an idiot. Which means, that most people who use the word tool are tools themselves. Proabably most people (not me) who post on this site about the urban defination of the word tool are coincidently tools.

(Sees a guy wearing a shirt with a message) Hey why the fuck are you wearing that shirt you fucking tool! Poser!(Doesn't realize that the shirt is portraying a completely different message).
