Mark Knopfler Syndrome

The Mark Knopfler syndrome is, in musical circles, an occurrence when a musician is incredibly skinny and homely eventhough he is well off.

It references Dire Straits' frontman, because he was unbelievably skinny and homely, eventhough he was well off.

Joe over there must have Mark Knopfler syndrome. He is so skinny, yet his band is making it big.
